Walking on Words

Committee

About us:
Since 2006, a range of Ballarat services, agencies and interested people have come together to explore early years literacy in our community and develop a co-ordinated strategy.

Ballarat Early Years Literacy Strategy
The strategy is a result of a strong partnership between a range of services across Ballarat. Whilst still a work in progress our strategy covers three main areas which include :

  1. Various programs that involve giving books to children and information about the importance of reading to parents via the Maternal & Child Health Program (i.e. Lets Read, Young Readers Program)  and we are also hoping to develop our own Ballarat black & white board book to give to all newborns
  2. Professional Development opportunities such as the Walking on Words Early Years Literacy Conference.
  3. Information sharing, collaboration and partnership development.

Membership is open to any interested person or agency.
